VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator [V9]

I. Overview:

The VMware Certified Professional - VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator (VCP-VCF Admin) certification validates the skills required to deploy, manage, and support private cloud environments built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This certification is designed for IT professionals expanding from traditional infrastructure roles to cloud administration. Candidates for this certification includes professionals responsible for implementing and maintaining VCF infrastructure, ensuring it meets organizational service level objectives for availability, performance, and security. By achieving this certification, professionals demonstrate their ability to effectively operate VCF environments.

II. Duration: 56 hour (7 days)
III. Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the architecture, core components, and operational principles of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) as a private cloud platform.
  • Describe the value proposition, use cases, and design considerations of Private Cloud based on VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Deploy and configure core VCF infrastructure components, including vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and networking components within a VCF environment.
  • Deploy and manage Workload Domains, including compute, storage, networking, and Supervisor configuration.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative and lifecycle management tasks in VMware Cloud Foundation, including identity management, RBAC, licensing, certificates, passwords, and upgrades.
  • Monitor and operate VMware Cloud Foundation using VCF Operations, VCF Network Operations, VCF Storage Operations, and VCF Operations for Logs.
  • Configure alerting, dashboards, reports, policies, and compliance monitoring within VCF Operations.
  • Consume cloud services and automate infrastructure using VCF Automation, including multi-tenancy, organizational governance, provider networking, content libraries, and extensibility.
  • Understand and manage Supervisor-based services and Kubernetes integration within VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Apply scenario-based knowledge aligned with the VCP-VCF Administrator exam blueprint, preparing students for both certification and real-world VCF administration tasks.
IV. Intended Audience:
  • System administrators
  • Systems engineers
V. Prerequisites:
  • Students should have a minimum of one year of experience working in IT and should have foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and general enterprise IT topics including, but not limited to, hardware, storage, networking, DNS, NTP, and certificates.
  • In addition, students should have at least six months of experience working with either VCF or the individual VCF components. Students may occasionally need to research advanced VCF topics (such as command-line utilities) or request assistance to troubleshoot complex scenarios. Students possess most of the knowledge outlined in the exam sections of the exam blueprint.
